
W7: Pre-Deployment Readiness RetreatA 5 day residential retreat aimed at developing personal and social readiness for international deployment of a humanitarian nature. The program aims to support organizations to better fit and prepare staff and volunteers to assignments. Participants will complete a range of psychological and psychosocial screening & personality inventories; participate in simulated activities and hypothetical scenarios; learn about their own reactions to stress and coping mechanisms; gain active insight into dynamics of teams; be introduced to psychosocial aspects of community issues and recovery from adversity; be trained in interpersonal support and psychological first aid skills and develop a self-care plan for deployment. Participants will also have ample opportunity to casually meet and discuss overseas assignment issues with very experienced field personnel who will comprise the Readiness Retreat team. An outcome of the retreat will be a Portfolio that will detail a personal profile of assignment competencies, personality descriptors, personal reflections and tip sheet information that will be owned by the individual who has completed the Antares Readiness Retreat. This Portfolio can be shared with deploying organizations to assist them in the recruitment/ assigning of the individual to projects.
